Dancing with Lila

yoga training greece retreat

What is Lila?

The Sanskrit term līlā is generally translated as “play” or grace.

Lila emphasizes the fact that the world is born in freedom and playful creativity, rather than necessity.

Why is this important?

Because sometimes adulting can feel pretty serious.

We grow up, have responsibilities and we forget how to play.

We forget that an important part of life is to play and experience joy.

We forget to:

  • laugh

  • dance

  • to swim in clear blue water

  • go on adventures by ourselves

  • have naps and read books on the beach

  • eat delicious food

  • travel and make new friends

  • share and hear others

  • practice yoga for the joy of moving our bodies

  • to watch the sunrises in silence

So. Are you ready to remember how to dance with Lila?

Me too.

Let’s go to Greece and remember joy.

You had me at Greece.

    Jonni-Lyn Friel

Yoga, Sound Healing and Sacred Circles

Jonni-Lyn currently lives in Victoria, BC Canada from Athens, Greece where she lived for many years. This was the place where she graduated her first training in 2006, studied and worked with wonderful teachers from around the world, owned a studio at the bottom of the Acropolis and held trainings and retreats around the world. She is certified in Restorative yoga, Jivamukti and Vinyasa yoga and leads 200 and 300 hour trainings globally. She is excited to share her knowledge respect for all things yoga.

Yoga has been in her life for as long as she can remember. Her hippie parents practiced yoga and taught her when she was young, allowing her to explore without having a formal structure or teacher. Growing up, she discovered yoga to be sacred, healing and powerful. Whenever she needed clarity, insight or support, her practice has provided them, without fail. It is her honor to teach - to share what she has learned and practiced from her teachers is a way for her to impart her knowledge and what has helped her. Seva, or service, has always been a big part of yoga and her practice. Teaching is a way for Jonni-Lyn to practice being of service to others.

In Jonni-Lyn’s class you can expect to have fun. Joy is a part of life and a part of her classes! You will work hard, learn, breathe, chant, and connect with your body and your community. She also focuses on the healing powers of sound bath and Sacred Circles, especially for women. She loves to tell stories, encourage you to find your boundaries and think about what it is find meaningful. Her Teacher says it best: We are all reflections of the sun, separately shining our own light but collectively part of something bigger than ourselves.

Michele was born and raised in Grand Bank, Newfoundland but now calls Victoria, BC her home. She is a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy with more than 25 years of service and four command appointments. Since “retiring”, she has immersed herself in the study of values-based leadership and coaching. When not studying or working, she can be found on the beach, on the mat, or in the dance studio. We will gather all of your travel details and may be able to arrange shared taxis. It is about a 20 euros fare to the center. We will also have 2 meals out together, that are not included in the price. There is a beautiful spa onsite that you may book treatments at, which would be at your own cost.

The day is set up so that you have the freedom to explore (or rest!) during the day, without having to be back for lunch.

From Canada, Rouge flies directly into Athens from both Toronto and Montreal. Skyscanner is a great search engine that will give you lots of options on how to get there.

If you are flying, the flight is about an hour and leaves the Athens airport 4 or 5 times a day.
